I was formerly a newspaper journalist for 10 years as I love to write and wanted to make use of my Bachelor Degree in English and Philosophy from the University of Liverpool. After having my children, I decided it was time to pursue the other career I had always wanted to try – teaching! I did a PGCE at Canterbury Christchurch University in Kent and have now been teaching in primary for four years. In my first year as an NQT I steered a Year 6 class through their SATS very successfully – the school received a letter from the Education Minister congratulating us on being in the top 2% of schools nationally for progress between Year 2 and Year 6 SATs for that year! I love teaching and learning with young people – they are a constant source of inspiration and fun. I spent time at schools in the UAE as a child and loved the experience of being in a new country and different culture – there is a big world out there and I think it is important that we get to see and experience it. Given that, the opportunity of teaching at BISS Puxi was too good to miss and I couldn’t wait to relocate here with my family. The school community has been so welcoming and we are delighted to now be a part of it.
I am passionate about reading and literacy – it is a gateway to all kinds of worlds that we otherwise might never get to experience. My family are the most important thing to me and my two children are very excited about joining BISS Puxi too. I also love being active, whether walking, running, swimming or cycling. In the past I have run the London Marathon and completed the London Triathlon.
