Eimear Reen

Chemistry Teacher and IBDP Coordinator

Eimear Reen

Eimear graduated from University College Cork in Ireland in 2013 after studying Science Education with a major in Chemistry. Previously, she worked in an academy in North London teaching GSCE Science and A Level Chemistry.  Her enthusiasm for enabling young people to think and work both independently and collaboratively means that her students are always engaged with their learning.

The move to BISS Puxi was one to fulfil a dream of teaching abroad and to experience a new and different set of young people. After spending a summer travelling Southeast Asia, Eimear decided China would be a good fit. She has always enjoyed living and working abroad, and spent time living in Edinburgh and San Francisco. In lessons, Eimear enjoys incorporating a practical-based approach where she facilitates experience-based learning and also encourages the students' passion for Science. It is important for Eimear that regardless of what topic she is teaching, the students are challenged and actively learning. Her main motivation in teaching is helping students develop their curiosity and understanding of the world.

Outside of school, Eimear enjoys reading, hiking and travelling. She always tries to spend her holidays visiting family in Ireland or exploring new and exciting places in the world. She also enjoys playing card and board games, and her current collection of games in her after school ECA is very impressive.
