Rosemary Weston

Biology Teacher

Rosemary graduated from the University of Southampton in 2002 with a degree in Biochemistry and Pharmacology. She then went on to complete her PGCE at the University of Warwick. Since then, she has held a number of roles in comprehensive schools in the Midlands including Second in Science, acting Head of Science and more recently Lead Practitioner of Whole School.

Rosemary is incredibly passionate about inspiring her students to be curious about the world and analyse information provided to them, using Science as their foundation. Like all teachers, she loves the ‘light bulb’ moment when something clicks and some scientific idea or process can be recognised in a real life situation – this is what really motivates her.  she also enjoys when students find pleasure and enjoyment in the tasks that they are completing to the point that they don’t always realise they are learning until they reflect on the knowledge or the skills gained. Rosemary has always enjoyed being around people, sharing knowledge and experiences, discussing ideas and findings and so becoming a teacher. She values respectful and positive people, and the different perspectives they can bring to our world and so, she enjoys getting to know each student as an individual and tries to link their experiences into both her classroom practice and her life outside of work.

Rosemary and her husband Alexander have two lively boys, aged 9 and 5. Together they enjoy visiting good restaurants, sampling different cuisines and trying to replicate these in their own kitchen for their friends. Rosemary is very keen to keep healthy and exercises regularly, particularly going on walks and runs with her family. In the last year, she completed a 26 mile trek up and down the largest mountains in the Brecon Beacons in South Wales (which is where she grew up), raising thousands of pounds for the Alzheimer’s Society; a charity very close to her heart.
