Staff Profile: Irina Brannasch

Irina Brannasch

Head of MFL

Irina grew up in the Ural mountains in Russia, where she also found her dedication and life’s passion - teaching foreign languages. After 5 years of study and her first degree in teaching German, she then moved to Germany and discovered her further passion - Chinese culture and language. Always looking for new challenges, Irina decided to study Mandarin and get her second degree in Sinology.

During her study years, Irina also worked for the Bavarian office for migrants and refugees, teaching them German and mostly helping them to settle in the new environment. Being socially engaged and loving to help others, Irina led the ERASMUS/ LAOZI program for foreign students at TU Munich, both as a German teacher and as a social volunteer.

Irina’s sense of discovery  brought her to China, where she enjoys the opportunity to combine all her skills- teaching German and Mandarin at the international school, helping those in need in various charity projects and travelling across Asia. Her free time she mostly spends with her loved ones - her French-Canadian husband (therefore she is now learning French), her 2 children and their Labrador.
