Alexander graduated with a First Class Honours Degree in Modern Languages with distinction in spoken Spanish from the University of Exeter. After completing an MA in Spanish and Latin American Studies at King’s College, London, followed by a PhD in Spanish History at the University of Exeter, he undertook a PGCE in Modern Languages (Spanish and French) at the University of Cambridge.
Alexander has lived and worked in both Spain and France, and he has taught languages extensively at secondary level and in the higher education sector. Before joining BISS Puxi in 2016, Alexander taught Spanish and Theory of Knowledge at a leading IB world school in the UK. From 2017 to 2019, Alexander was the Secondary Global Campus Leader. In this role, he co-led the school’s Global Challenge to address the UNICEF global goals for sustainable development; he led the school’s annual Tanzania expedition; and he directed Model United Nations. In 2019, Alexander was promoted to Head of Modern Foreign Languages and oversees the teaching and learning in French, German, Korean and Spanish. Alexander is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (UK) and he is an examiner for Language B (Spanish) for the International Baccalaureate Diploma.
Alexander's interests include reading (particularly Hispanic literature), cinema, travel and music. He enjoys working in an international environment and sharing his passion for the languages and cultures of the French and Spanish-speaking world with his students.
