The Year 6 BISCARS Awards Ceremony had many parents and teachers welling up with pride, especially with the students glowing in their finery of sparkling dresses and suits.
With a display of an array of appropriate songs to mark the occasions, like ‘Celebration’, ‘Happy’ and ‘Never Forget’, it was an event that left an etching memory for our Year 6 students and their parents, to mark the ending of primary school to move on to the next journey of life and educational chapter.
The surprise element of the OSCARs-like ceremony, was kept until the actual presentation in the afternoon. During the rehearsals the students were not told about what they had been nominated for and if they were winners. Their friendship photos for their award frames, were also kept a surprise and when taking those photos a few weeks back, children had no idea why these were done. The expressions on the faces throughout the day, from getting ready, to the unveiling of awards were to be treasured.
Children enjoyed their buffet at the end of the afternoon and parents were able to view work from the different Year 6 classes. Much preparation went into the event so we extend a big thank you to everyone involved in putting this successful event together.
