When?

1-4pm, Monday 27th April 2015

What?

IB CAS Students in Year 12 are asking students at BIS Abu Dhabi to take a photo or create a piece of art upon the theme of ‘What’s inside your head?’ It is a chance for students to expose their creative side and portray what they feel inside their head.

The photos and art pieces created by the students will be put up on display at an exhibition taking place on Monday 27th April. The exhibition will take place during lunchtime for students to view and at 3:00-4:00pm for parents and families. Entry will be 10 AED, and 2% of the money raised will go to Red Crescent.

The initiative is in support of a charity called ‘Mindful’. Mindful is a nationally recognised program that reaches out to people aged 7 to 11 years who are suffering with mental health issues. Some people are affected by mental health; whether it’s because of someone around them experiencing it or if they are experiencing it personally.

You might know someone experiencing this but you may not. If so then you may not be sure how to deal with it or you might not recognize it. This is a worldwide issue that is growing; people don’t notice or understand what mental health really is. That is what the charity ‘Mindful’ does, it helps people with this issue.

In addition to the photo and art display, other activities taking place at the exhibition include:

  • Parent/child yoga session (3-4) (2 sessions, half an hour each)
  • Drama piece
  • Refreshments – healthy heart and mind
  • A counsellor will do a presentation (3:30-3:45pm)
  • Green ribbons are going to be sold for 5 AED
  • Everyone can come in dressed as green or something green for 5 AED
  • A raffle will take place at 5 AED per ticket
