BIS Abu Dhabi seeks to appoint a suitably qualified, experienced and dynamic Librarian.
The successful candidate will have a strong background as a librarian and will be passionate about delivering a high quality library provision which has a significant impact on the learning opportunities for all our students.
The Librarian will acquire, select, purchase, advise and promote learning resources in all formats and recreational reading materials which support the curriculum. He or she will creatively and energetically promote literacy and reading and library use through a wide variety of activities. There will need to be a particular focus on supporting our senior students with developing research skills.
This role will also have responsibility in promoting effective use of information resources and services, encouraging appropriate conduct of students using the library system facility and keeping records of all library expenditures.
The ideal candidate
The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator with at least 3 years library/ media experience. This role would suit someone with strong interpersonal, communication and problem solving skills to share research based instructional approaches with students, teachers and school administrators and provide advice, mentoring and coaching. He or she is someone who is able to demonstrate collaborative leadership abilities and with good command of written and spoken English. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of research, reading, writing and literacy development.
The successful candidate will also have high levels of personal integrity, have a flexible and positive approach to work, coupled with excellent organisational and time-management skills and being able to adapt working in a fast paced ever changing environment.
