Road Safety Awareness comes to BIS Abu Dhabi

11 April 2017

  • seatbelt

This term, students at BIS Abu Dhabi will be taking part in a Road Safety Awareness campaign. The slogan, ‘Seatbelts Are For Everyone’ will become our mantra and the children will be getting involved in a series of activities and lessons with a focus on buckling up when in cars for all the journeys they undertake.

Police visit

Steve West, a local Community Police Officer, and an Arabic counterpart, will be visiting the school on Thursday 13th April to run assemblies for students from Year 1 up to Year 9. Furthermore, they will also spend some time with FS students, and a session has been arranged with the PTA to look at how they can help to raise awareness too.

Other initiatives include a competition that will run in tandem with the awareness campaign. Using our adopted slogan, ‘Seatbelts Are For Everyone’, we would like students to create an A4-sized eye-catching car sticker/t-shirt design that would help remind other road users of the importance of buckling up when travelling on the roads.

The winners will not only receive great prizes, including Tickets to Ferrari World, Crazy Cars at Dalma Mall, and Bounce Abu Dhabi, but they will also see their design emblazoned across t-shirts given out to all the students to help spread the SAFE message. If interested, send your A4 design to your class teacher no later than Tuesday 25th April.

To help us compile some school data on how safe our student and our parent community are when travelling by car, we have developed a survey for both our parent community and students to complete that our primary students will analyse. We would appreciate if parents and students could take the time to complete this survey, which should take only a few minutes:

Lastly, T-shirts, signage and posters around the school will help us really drive the message within our community and beyond.
