The UAE National Day is a celebration of the union of the six Emirates while Ras Al Khaimah joined on 10th February 1972 making a total of seven Emirates. These seven Emirates combined to form a worldwide modern country, headed by Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the country’s first president.
At The British International School Abu Dhabi, National Day is one of the highlights of our year. The school is transformed into a family festival and it is a wonderful place to celebrate and come together as one community. Whether you wish to come to enjoy all the entertainment and activities on offer, or whether you just want to enjoy a family picnic, all are welcome. Please also feel free to bring along friends and family to take part in this special occasion.
For new members of our community, the National Day celebrations at the school and throughout Abu Dhabi over the coming weekend are a great way to learn more about the UAE, its traditions and its history. There are so many exciting events to help understand Emirati culture and the pride and welcoming nature of the UAE. Please do take part in all that you can.
There are three days holiday to celebrate National Day and Commemoration Day so the school will be closed on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. In the meantime though, we look forward to seeing you at our National Day celebration on Wednesday afternoon when we can all celebrate the fantastic achievements of this outstanding Nation. We should never forget how much has been achieved in such a short period of time under the leadership and guidance from the rulers of this country.
We wish everyone a lovely National holiday with family and friends.
