Student Profile: David, Year 7

14 May 2019

Although I am from Spain, I have spent most of my life outside of my home country.

  • David & Macarena

Our profile this week is David, a student in Year 7 and next week his twin sister, Macarena, will write for us! Below David gives us an introduction to himself and his love of Drama, History, Science and Maths:

My name is David and I am from Madrid in Spain. I am 12 years old and I am in Year 7. Although I am from Spain, I have spent most of my life outside of my home country. I first moved to Liverpool when I was four and I stayed there for a year before moving to Canberra in Australia. I spent another year in Canberra before moving further up the Australian coastline and up to Brisbane. I lived there for three years, but we later moved to Abu Dhabi. Since then my experiences here at BIS Abu Dhabi have been extraordinary and I have been greeted and looked after by handfuls of energetic students and warm teachers.

My favourite lessons are Drama, History, Science and Maths. I love these lessons because I, not only love the subject but the teachers that teach it to me: Mr Williams, Mr Lowe, Mr Dietrich and Ms Jones. These are my four favourite teachers in the school because they make my learning fun and they help me understand and learn more about their subject. I enjoy playing Football and Tennis in my free time. But my favourite thing to do in my spare time is reading. I love to read as it helps offer creative new worlds and allows me to boost my creativity and creative writing skills. My favourite books are Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Alex Rider 4 as well as Eagle Strike. I also like playing on my PS4 and board games with my parents and my two sisters. My favourite board game is Cluedo.  I love watching movies in the cinema and my favourite movie is Thor Ragnarok. My favourite types of movies are superhero movies like the Avengers and Ironman.

This year I have been part of the BISAD Chess Team, and I helped my school win the competition against other schools and a solo tournament against Cranleigh. I love going to the chess room at break or at chess club because of how much I love to play chess. Last year I took part in Little Stars and ended up with one of the biggest roles.  I was Balthazar Bongo from Ali Baba and the Bongo Bandits. Bongo was the main villain and the leader of the 40 thieves. Last year I was also house captain for Ash. Finally, I have participated in KenKen and finished 7th in the whole UAE.

When I leave school and go to university, I want to be either a football commentator or an actor. Another dream of mine is to travel around the world and visit many different places all over the globe.
