School Bus Processes

Safety is our utmost concern, and as such we would like to take this opportunity to share procedures which ensure that our buses meet and exceed ADEK and Department of Transport requirements. 

BIS Abu Dhabi works closely with Shanawaz Transport, a reputable bus company, to provide a transportation service for children that opt to take the bus. Safety procedures include the following:

• A dedicated Bus Monitor will always be on the bus with the students to make sure they are seated with their seatbelts fastened.
• Once students have left the bus in the morning, each of the Bus Monitors will check their bus and put up a “Bus Empty” sign on the rear window. A Shanawaz representative will then double-check all buses.
• In the afternoon following drop-off, once the bus returns to the school parking the Bus Monitors will check their bus before returning the sign to “Bus Empty”. The bus driver then performs another check before leaving the bus.
• In addition, a Shanawaz mobile application is available to download, allowing parents to receive notifications when a student is picked up and dropped off the bus.
