Social media appears to be awash with games, quizzes, challenges and ideas for managing our time as we socially isolate (after completing our virtual learning and video conference calls) so let’s start with a little quiz. What do the following collaborations have in common?
- The company called “JCB” who manufacture equipment for construction and “Dyson” who manufacture household appliances such as vacuum cleaners?
- Mechanical Engineers at University College London, Mercedes(F1) and clinicians at University College London Hospitals (NHS)?
The answer in both cases is that these highly unlikely partnerships have responded quickly to a UK government challenge, producing ventilators and helping healthcare providers with COVID 19, a virus which is impacting us all worldwide. The power of these institutions collaborating has resulted in ventilators being designed and mass produced in less than 100 hours. An impressive testament to people working together to achieve a common goal by utilising their skill sets for the benefit of many.
We are now in week two of our Nord Anglia Virtual School Experience and the power of our collaborations with our other schools around the World has guided and supported the approach we have taken with our virtual learning. We often talk about the Power of 66 (the number of Nord Anglia Schools) and never has it been more important to be part of a large education organisation and everything it can offer to support students in the weeks ahead. We have learnt from our schools in the Far East who started this process long before us and are confident that students continue to move their learning forward whilst being supported by their teachers and friends. We have been delighted with the way all of our students are rising to the challenges that home learning presents and embracing this new model of learning which will evolve and be refined each week.
We thank you for your feedback in our questionnaire and to those who have taken the time to send supportive emails to class or subject teachers who are working hard providing high quality learning experiences every day. Through us collaborating as a worldwide organisation and having a shared vision, we will ensure that our students receive the best education possible.
Our partnership must now be stronger than ever to support your children and to keep everyone safe. Following the guidance of the UAE Government and everyone working towards a common goal, will enable us to resume our normal routines as soon as we can.
Stay safe and please follow all advice issued by the UAE authorities for the safety of everyone.
