Primary School

Primary Parent – Teacher Meetings

On the Monday 10 December and Tuesday 11 December, your child’s teacher will talk to you in detail about the reporting and assessment system, as well as share information on how you can further support your child at home – your attendance at this meeting is therefore extremely important.

Students in Years 1 to 6 are assessed in reading, writing, numeracy and science against a set of age-expected Fundamental Learning Objectives (FLOs). In each subject, students are assessed against carefully selected statements that we have identified as being fundamental to students’ continued progress within the given subject area.

Through both formative and summative assessment methods, students’ progress is tracked against the age-expected FLOs and judgements are made to whether the child is Beginning, Developing, Meeting or Exceeding in that subject area. Term 1 judgements will be clearly marked next to each FLO on the report.

The teachers will also be sharing the recent assessments the children have taken in reading, numeracy, writing and spelling. They will talk through how your child has progressed and suggest targets for your child to work towards in the next term.

Structured and more detailed homework

CGP Books will be available for parents to purchase or order for the next term on both afternoons at Reception from 2.30 pm.

The following books will be on sale for 20 QAR per book.

Mathematics Work Out Books Year 1-6

The Workout Books are bursting with quick-fire practice Maths questions for children aged 5-11. It’s all presented in a fun and friendly style, with lots of cartoons to keep them interested… perfect for making sure they’ve really got to grips with all the important topics. What’s more, all the answers are included in a cut-out-and-keep section at the back of the book, so it’s simple to find out how well they’re progressing.

KS2 English Targeted Question Book: Grammar Year 3-6

Packed with engaging grammar practice for Year 3-6, this full-colour Targeted Question Book is fully up-to-date for the National Curriculum. In addition to all those questions, there are notes and examples throughout the book to help children get started, and self-assessment tick-boxes to keep track of their progress

I must stress this is purely an optional resource for parents to use to support their children at home and will link with the fundamental learning objectives the children are covering at school.
