I have enjoyed a diverse and rewarding career, which has included the headship of five schools both in the UK and internationally. I have also held a variety of leadership roles within the primary sector. As both a teacher and head teacher, I set extremely high standards for the children under my care and they have achieved some outstanding results. I have been fortunate to work in various countries abroad including Thailand, Egypt and Mexico.
During the last five years I have been working in a school in Tower Hamlets, London as a lead consultant and coordinator for literacy; my specialty being the implementation of ‘Talk for Writing’. This has involved working alongside teachers, improving and developing practice and the progress of children in literacy. I have always been passionate about teaching and the continued pursuit of excellence.
My main hobby is long distance running and recently I managed to complete the Brighton Half Marathon, although the last mile was not particularly enjoyable. My other interests include photography, films, theatre and last but most certainly not least football - I am an avid fan of Manchester United.
I am looking forward to the new challenge of Headship at NAISAK and am pleased to be part of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) where we will be working to deliver academic and pastoral excellence. It also provides me with a wonderful opportunity to learn about a new culture and meet new people.
The staff in the Primary School have been working incredibly hard to prepare for the children returning to school. This year, the emphasis will be on positive discipline, I will speak about this in more detail at our parent-teacher meetings later this month. It was exciting to finally meet both parents and children last week. My main aim is to ensure a welcoming and inclusive ethos and celebrate the pupils’ achievements as often as possible.
I am sure the school will enjoy a very successful new school year and I look forward to working with you all.
