‘Meet the Teacher’ afternoon on Wednesday 11th March at 2.00pm is an opportunity for you to meet your child’s teacher and discuss any individual concerns or worries that you may have. We believe in a true partnership engaging all staff, children and families, in building a learning community that models mutual respect and fosters academic excellence for all children. If we work together, it will make a significant difference in the way children work in school. It will also enhance relationships and instil motivation to learn and be successful.
At this meeting, Year Leaders will provide essential information for parents, to enable you to support your child at home and school.
We will be providing information on:
- Class Agreements
- Curriculum Maps
- Age-Related Expectations – a summary of learning objectives in maths, science and English that your child will be covering this year.
- Assessment dates and exams
- Introduction to RWinc
- Parental workshops for the year
Please ensure that you attend this very important event and I look forward to meeting parents and children.
This year our main aim is to improve basic skills in English. Our intention is to provide more platforms for children to improve speaking and listening skills, as this will help to improve language acquisition for our second language learners.
We are also introducing Read, Write Inc, Fresh Start and Spelling. In addition to these programmes, we aim to teach a curriculum which is language rich and allows our pupils to develop writing and reading across the curriculum.
