A very warm welcome back to all our Foundation Stage children! I hope that everyone had a wonderful winter break and that we are well rested and ready to start a busy term.
Foundation Stage 1 have started off the term reading the story ‘Farmer Duck’ and are looking at the different animals they might find on a farm. They are listening carefully to the sounds the animals make and are developing their English vocabulary. Foundation Stage 2 are reading ‘Dear Zoo’, also an animal-based story. The story sees the author write a letter to the zoo asking for a pet. The children will be writing their own letters requesting a desired pet.
This term, the students will continue to develop their communication and language skills, this being a key focus. Parents can encourage this development at home by continuing to read with their children and discussing stories in greater detail. The more able your child is to think and discuss stories, the better their understanding will be.
