Foundation Stage 1 have been focusing on farms the last few weeks of this term and carried this theme over to World Book Week. They have spent the past two weeks reading ‘The Scarecrow Who Wouldn’t Scare’. The children have had opportunities to develop their oral storytelling skills and to develop their vocabulary.
Foundation Stage 2 have had of focus on traditional tales, reading stories such as ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ and ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’. Both stories lend themselves to lovely practical activities, such as growing beans and making porridge, which in turn are a catalyst for discussion and building vocabulary.
Both Foundation Stage 1 and Foundation Stage 2 looked fantastic on Thursday with many children coming dressed as their favourite characters from books. I would like to thank all the parents who put in the time and effort to create exciting costumes for their children. A fantastic end to a fun week!
