We are always looking to improve the curriculum we can offer to our students and the skills of our teachers. At the beginning of the year, the PE department completed the first stage of their Fencing training. During the last half term, Ms Price and Mr Broome have completed the second stage by working along a qualified fencing coach to teach two groups of Secondary students. This will enable them to offer Level One fencing next term to other students in the school.

This half term, the PE Department have also completed their SNAG (Starting New At Golf) Training. This has been excellent and we are very grateful to Qatar International Golf Club for giving us this opportunity and all the free equipment. Teachers are looking forward to introducing this new activity during the hotter months and next term. We will also be able to offer an ECA once children are familiar with the concept.

Evo Netball Clinic with ex-international player Thenneh
During both Term 1 and Term 2, NAISAK Primary and Secondary girls have been presented with the opportunity to work alongside an ex-international netball player and coach Thenneh Conteh in some intensive training clinics. Following on from her work with the talented netballers in Qatar, Thenneh has offered training clinics to our students during the holidays. These workshops are for all age groups and are focused on developing the knowledge and skills of both new netballers and those with a little more experience. It was great to see some of our students taking up this opportunity during the break in late January and we hope they will do the same over the next holiday. Please see the poster for more details.

Gymnastics World Cup trip
On Thursday 23 March, the PE department organised a trip to go and watch the qualifying round of the Gymnastics World Cup hosted at the Aspire Dome. Students who have been attending our Gymnastics ECA were invited to take part in this fantastic opportunity and were able to watch some of the best gymnasts in the world from China, Japan, Russian and Canada to name a few. The event was well supported and our students were able to try out their skills on a gymnastics coaching station organised by the Aspire coaching team. The atmosphere was electric and our students came away feeling inspired to continue to work hard at their own gymnastics. NAISAK has its own Community Gymnastics Club for girls aged 5 years and above. Session take place on a Sunday from 14:30 to 16:30 (age 5 – 8 years) and 16:30 to 18:30 (age 9 years and above). Please contact Ms Libby for more details or check our community notice board at school.
