Extra-curricular

On Wednesday 3 May, we had a launch evening for the NAISAK Award. It was very well attended and even better received. The students and parents who came along received an information booklet, which is available below. They were also shown the PowerPoint available below.

For those who did not get the chance to attend, please do not worry, we are still taking applications until 10 May, which can also be collected from Ms Harvey and Mr Newnham from their classrooms. We will open applications again in September.

The NAISAK Award is an in-house award that will develop the student as a whole. The similar International Award has been shown in other schools to raise educational attainment as it fosters students’ maturity and responsibility. They learn to look after themselves and others, and therefore learn to take control of their own futures. It is also well regarded on college and university applications as it shows resilience and commitment to a challenge.

The NAISAK Award will have three levels (bronze, silver and gold), each with four elements. The four elements are volunteering, physical, skill and adventure. Each participant needs to log at least an hour a week in each element for the required time to achieve the award. Bronze is available from Year 7 upwards, silver from Year 8 and gold from Year 9.

If your child is interested in participating in the award, please read the attached booklet, complete the registration form at the back and return it to Ms Harvey or Mr Newnham by Wednesday 10 May. Good luck!
