Primary School House: Reaching Out and Chilling Out

Our House Captains visited Good Shepherd Sisters  and led fun activities with the children there… The first Mindful Friday of the year was a huge success…

Visit to Good Shepherd Sisters

The Year 6 House Captains had their first official duty on 29 September and it was a lot of fun! Together with High School CAS children, they paid a visit to the Good Shepherd Sisters to play games and activities with some of the refugees who attend school there. It was an action packed day! Upon arrival, St Andrews International School Bangkok representatives were invited to join in with the GSS morning assembly and ‘wake up shake up’.  Next they split the children into four groups to deliver different activities, each group containing roughly 10 children. Our House captains ran team-building games with the refugees such as building a tower with nothing but marshmallows and spaghetti and piling up cups using string and an elastic band! It went really well and the refugees had a great time.

After the activities finished, we were invited on a tour of the centre and in particular to see their workshop where they hand make artisan crafts to raise money.  When we left the centre, the children at the GSS all waved us off and asked us to come back next year. In the words of STA’s Year 6 Akha Captain, “It was the perfect way to finish a busy week at school.” Well done everyone involved!

Mindful Friday

We had a very relaxing end to the week thanks to the break time yoga sessions kindly provided by Ms Jo and Ms Jen. As always, the students were very keen to take part and thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to stretch and strengthen their bodies and calm their minds.
