Staff Profiles: Ms Tantawan (Tawan)

Tantawan (Tawan) Laebou

Learning Support Assistant

I worked at Bangkok Patana International School from 1993 to 2003 as Senior Assistant Librarian. My responsibilities involved researching and preparing weekly various authors. I also researched and prepared displays on cultural themes reflection the multi-cultural and international intake of the school. Between 2004 and 2006 I worked at Charter International School as a Librarian and then as a Teaching Assistant to Reception and Year 1.

Afterwards, I moved to Bromsgrove International School and worked as a Librarian in Early Years, Teaching Assistant in Year 1 and House Parent for the boarding house. My responsibilities included preparing teaching materials and displays for lessons, supervising children at break time and lunchtime. I supported children with ESL needs within the class and reading with the bottom group in Year 2.

My responsibilities in boarding house was to supervise Year 7 to 9 students at homework after dinner until bedtime and provide support to girls group when they had any problems.

I joined St. Andrews in 2007 as a Teaching Assistant in Year 2 and Teaching Thai with Year 2 group as fluent Thai speaker until 2010. I later moved to KS2 as Learning Support Assistant with special needs children in Year 3. Recently, I support special needs children in Year 4 and help KS2 by providing/making props for productions such as Aladdin, and The Lion King.

I decided to work here because some of teacher that I was worked told me about this school and I thought that I should come to apply to this school. Ever since I got the job here I had a great time working with the other teachers and students in this school.

I am very organised, cheerful person and talented in art. I pride myself in being easy to adapt to a new environment, and I interact well with my colleagues. I am very loyal and devoted to my family and career. I always complete all my tasks on time and perform to the best of my abilities. People tell me that I am thoughtful, sensible judicious and curious. I love arts and crafts (especially paper craft), listening to classical music, meditating, reading and meeting new people.

This school is different to all others I have worked at because we are working as a team to supported year group, students, teachers and whole school. If there is a difficulty with a student I can go straight to the class teacher to talk about the problem. We always find the best solution to solve it.
