In the Middle School your child will focus upon honing the skills that will be required for future success. The main tools for this curricula are accessed through the National Curriculum of England. However, at BISB we have refined some aspects of the National Curriculum of England and introduced our own skills program (BISB6) to ensure we offer the greatest opportunities.
Your child's developing adolescent brain deserves a special approach. That's why we choose special curricula.
How is Our Middle School Different?
In the Middle School, your child is at a unique stage: discovering independence but needing support. By using both the National Curriculum of England and our own program, we offer a great solution.
Specialist teachers will guide your child through a broad range of subject areas, setting individualized goals and carefully tracking their progress. Through the BISB Curriculum, your child will study English, mathematics, science, history, geography, French, Spanish, computer studies, art, performing arts and physical education.
The depth of study in each area ensures that over the three years of the Middle School, your child will lay a solid foundation for the rigor of the IGCSE and IB programs in our High School.
BISB6 provides your child with a unique opportunity absent from the typical American middle school model: the opportunity to make learning connections between the various subjects.
Over the course of the year, students focus on several "big ideas". This promotes "big picture" thinking and challenges your child to extend their focus beyond the facts of a subject and see how a "big idea" flows across many disciplines.
Supporting Your Child
Mentors touch base with students daily, helping to ensure that your child is navigating comfortably through the challenges of adolescent life.
The middle school years are an exciting time that deserve special attention. We provide it.
