Welcome to the New School Year! Our Headmaster Paul Wiseman welcomes students and families back to a new school year at the British International School of Boston. Welcome back to a brand new school year at the British International School of Boston! It is hard to believe the summer holiday has already come and gone, but we are all very excited about the year ahead.

I hope you had a relaxing summer and were able to spend time together as a family, perhaps exploring new parts of the world and new activities in Boston, or continuing your child’s learning through summer camps and other opportunities.

The summer holiday was certainly a time of great learning and progress for our school. Most significantly, our school name officially changed. After many months of working with community members and Nord Anglia Education, we are now the British International School of Boston! We are eager to celebrate this important change throughout the new school year, as we welcome new students and staff, continue our success in international examinations and join together for annual events that honour our diverse community.

The school underwent several other changes over the summer. Some classrooms were rearranged over the break to create improved teaching spaces. The music room was moved to a better space: the former IBDP common room, and the growing number of IB diploma students will now have one room for study and another for recreation. The English classrooms in the Wing have been moved to the main building, and our ‘blackbox theatre’ has been fitted with a lighting system that creates an excellent resource for the learning and teaching of Drama.

The school website was also improved over the summer, thanks to hard work by the Admissions and Marketing team. It was completely updated, reflecting our new name and providing a more streamlined format to share school news and information.

As we continue to move forward at the British International School of Boston, we also continue to grow our school community. This fall we welcome a wonderful group of more than 75 new students, who come to BISB from local public schools, private schools in the area and from schools across the world.

Our staff is also growing this school year. We welcomed nine new teachers, give learning assistants and a number of new administrative staff to the school. These new community members join us from around the world and each brings unique experiences and talents to our school.

I hope you are as positive as I am about the year ahead. The start of a new year is the perfect time to remind ourselves of our commitments to all our families. At our school:

  • Your child will become an internationally minded citizen of exceptional character.

  • Your child will achieve remarkable academic success through individualized learning.

  • Your child will be inspired by extraordinary people and experiences.

We are keen to continue working with you to turn these commitments into reality.

Yours sincerely,

Paul Wiseman O.B.E.
