Our Boston private school will host our final Speaker Series event of the school year on May 18, featuring speaker Josh Golin, executive director of the Boston-based Campaign for a Commercial-Free Childhood.
Mr. Golin has appeared on the Today Show, NPR, NBC Nightly News and has been quotes in hundreds of publications including The New York Times, The Washington Post and USA Today. His organization works to end marketing to children and also works with families to balance technology and media in children's lives.
Mr. Golin will speak at BISB about screen time for young children, particularly those in the early years and elementary school. He will discuss the benefits that technology can have for young children, but also discuss the potential risks of too much screen time during childhood.
Parents will get actionable tips to bring a better balance of technology to their children's and their family's lives.
This topic is a particularly timely one for parents and educators. A report from Common Sense Media was released this month that shared research about problematic media use and its possible impacts on youth's well-being and development. You can click here to read more about this topic, and then attend BISB's event on May 18 to learn more about what you can do to find balance with technology in your family's life.
This event is open to the community, so attendees are encouraged to bring their family, friends and neighbors.
