I have an LLB in Law and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education. In my most recent role, I was an Assitant Head for Teaching and Learning and Curriculum Development in a school located in Kings Cross, London. I have also been the Head of Maths, a Teach First and NQT Mentor and a classroom teacher based in KS2. I have been based in inner city London schools for over 7 years where I was part of a school improvement team.
I had initially joined my current school as part of a dedicated team, brought on to effect change as the school was catapulted into ‘Special Measures’ through the previous leadership team. This provided a brilliant platform for securing school improvement. This involved the development of teaching and learning across all phases, cultivating an active learning environment, improving planning and assessment systems, monitoring progress and supporting parental engagement with the school. As a result, the school has now improved a great deal with far higher academic results than in its previous years. In April 2012, I embarked on a trip to Uganda and Rwanda where I worked alongside colleagues in developing teaching practice within schools. In addition to this trip, I spent my summer in 2013 volunteering in the President’s Village Orphanage in the Seychelles. Here, I engaged in play activities and helping children to read and develop math skills. These experiences were inspirational, humbling and brilliant learning journeys, both educationally and morally.
I enjoy leading extra-curricular activities within schools and have previously directed four whole school musical productions. I have a great interest in travel and have ventured to a range of countries but I am still hoping to visit South America.
