From a young age, I have loved The United States of America and it has always been my ambition to live and work there. I spent one of the greatest days of my life watching the magnificent whales off the coast of Boston and I always said to myself that if I ever had the good fortune to be able to work here that I would absolutely jump at the opportunity. I love sport and music and am already indulging these passions in the magnificent city of Boston.

For the last eight years, I have proudly served as Principal of Nord Anglia Education's International School of Moscow. For the three years before that, I was Head of The International School of Moscow’s Secondary School.

I began my teaching career as a French Teacher in England before moving internationally and becoming Deputy Headteacher in three high-performing international schools in Kuwait, Egypt and Indonesia, before becoming Head of Secondary at The British School Muscat in Oman.

At The British International School of Boston, we combine the very highest educational standards with exceptional personalized care and support, which sees our students thrive both while they are with us and long into the future. Our world-class teachers ensure that each child fulfill their potential and becomes a well-rounded individual, equipped to succeed in the ever-changing world around us.

Through highly enjoyable and engaging learning experiences, our students acquire a vast array skills and knowledge. Most importantly, they also develop as individuals through a broad range of extra- curricular and enrichment activities.

We are extremely proud to be a member of the Nord Anglia Education family of premium international schools. Our students benefit from wonderful, bespoke collaborations with world-leading institutions such as the MIT, UNICEF, and The Juilliard School. Nord Anglia’s Global Campus platform also brings our students together with peers across 32 countries worldwide. All our teachers receive the very best training to ensure that our standards are always high.

As well as academic progress, your child will develop into a responsible global citizen at The British International School of Boston. Our students are encouraged to be inquisitive and play a part in their own development, as well as being challenged and given the opportunity to discover their abilities. We work hard to create an environment where children enjoy learning and feel safe and confident to participate, make mistakes and have fun. Ultimately, our aim is to make sure our students are exceptionally well-prepared for college and university life, life-long learning and an exciting career.

I encourage you to come and visit our school. We are very proud of our warm, welcoming atmosphere and would be extremely pleased to share the achievements of our school and our students with you.

I am extremely excited and very much looking forward to serving our wonderful school community and leading our school to even greater successes in the future.

It’s a pleasure to join the British International School of Boston. I join the BISB community most recently from my 14-year tenure in Chicago, where I first served as a math teacher and was then appointed as the Head of Secondary in 2013.

I graduated from university with a Master’s in Mechanical Engineering from Warwick University; I also completed a PGCE in Secondary Mathematics from Sheffield University, and I’ve completed a Master’s in International Education from King’s College London.

I grew up in Sheffield, England on the edge of the Peak District and enjoyed rock climbing and mountain biking. After I graduated from university, I spent a year working in industry before I decided to retrain and become a teacher. I worked in schools in the north of England before joining the Nord Anglia sister school of the British International School of Chicago, South Loop in the summer of 2007. I’m most excited to continue my journey within the Nord Anglia family of schools as the Deputy Head of School in Boston, working with the amazing community of students, staff, and parents of Boston.

Susan Burke

Originally from Boston’s North Shore, I joined the British International School of Boston as the Finance Business Manager in 2016 with experience that comes from living and working overseas in Europe and Asia for many years.

With over 20 years of financial services industry experience at leading financial services corporations, my career has been specialized in international finance, taxation, human resources, and operations management with an extensive focus on strategic development for offshore start-ups and turnarounds, defining and implementing process improvement and change management in both US and international contexts.

I recently transitioned back to the US hoping to build on that strong foundation in education management. Combining my passion for education and business management, with the sheer variety of activity that this role entails and the stimulating challenges it poses, holds great appeal for me, as I strive for continuous improvement, innovation, and embracing change to meet the needs of the BISB community.

Outside of work, I’m active in my community and have served in a variety of leadership roles with the alumni associations of both Saint Michael’s College and the University of Notre Dame. I’m a member of the Junior League of Boston and active in local charity causes. Additionally, I volunteer my time for cancer research fundraising, participating in the Pan Mass Challenge for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute and the walk-a-thon for the North Shore Medical Center. Recently, I spent time volunteering in a healthcare clinic in Peru. It was certainly an eye-opener for appreciating and understanding healthcare systems. Being able to participate in triage, pre-op, and post-op care was a wonderful and insightful experience all-around, and most importantly, I enjoyed connecting with the local people. Our paths are different, but when they intersect, there is something to learn and compassion to share. My keen interests in swimming, photography, and cross-cultural experiences continue to fuel my eclectic spirit.

I have a great respect for education and am thrilled to be working for an organization leading the future for global education providing education to inspire and empower students to make the world a better place. There are so many opportunities available today, and I cannot think of a more abundant environment than the one students find themselves in at the British International School of Boston
