A Great Start to the Bulldog Basketball Season!

The Bulldog Girls and Bulldog Boys began their CAMs Basketball League campaign last week. This developmental league provides our athletes an opportunity to enjoy playing in a squad, experience the highs and lows of sports, and ultimately to inspire our young learners to continue playing in the future.

The squad has a total of 10 games, which are a mix of home and away fixtures. These fixtures take place against neighboring schools and include Catherine Cook School, Near North Montessori, Bernard Zell Anshe Emet Day, Bennett Day and GEMS Academy.

Our first match was against Catherine Cook School. Our Bulldog Girls showed grit and determination from the tip off. Despite their opponents’ constant threat, the Bulldog Girls managed to finish with an impressive score of 26 – 12.

Following on immediately after the game were the Bulldog Boys. The bleachers were packed and there was nervous excitement in the air. They battled hard and contested every loose ball. However, it wasn’t quite meant to be on the night. Catherine Cook School extended their lead late on in the second half. The final score being 14 – 21.

Our second round of fixtures followed on Thursday. This time they were up against the experienced Near North Montessori School. Fresh from their first win, the girls wasted no time in taking the lead which remained for the majority of the game. The Bulldog Girls ended their second game with a convincing 18 – 7 win.

Clearly their mentality was infectious. The boys were ready to write their wrongs against NNM and they did exactly. The Bulldog Boys battled relentlessly in defense and were far more patient in attack. All their hard work lead to a solid 22 – 13 win.

At the time of writing, each team has a further 8 games left of the season. It is an open invite to all of our community for support. If you want to watch a whole game, or just fancy cheering on the Bulldogs at the end of the day, your support will always be welcome.

Many thanks to Coach Cole and our parent volunteer, Mr. Mandell, for their continued efforts during practice sessions.
