My ultimate goal is for my students to become independent and have the skills to make the music they want to make. I have extensive experience providing a creative, supportive environment for students to engage musically and emotionally. Lessons focus on not only developing technical skills, but also incorporate theory, musicality, improvisation, composition, and more, as students are exposed to music of all styles.
I started teaching my next door neighbor violin while I was in high school, and went on to study piano pedagogy at Northwestern, eventually serving on the faculty of Concordia University Chicago’s piano program for 14 years.
What is a highlight from your performing career?
|
I’ve enjoyed a varied career, from performing a piano concerto with orchestra to playing electric violin with nationally touring bands to being a founding member of a contemporary music ensemble (a.pe.ri.od.ic). I love playing different types of music in vastly different venues every day. Music is something everyone can enjoy!
