Clarinet and Piano Teacher

I’ve been involved with music my whole life. Growing up, my dad played in a Croatian folk band, so there was always music in the house. I started playing piano when I was 6 years old and I started playing clarinet when I was 9. I studied clarinet performance and music education in college, where I also sang in choir.

Describe your goals for your students (Your teaching philosophy)

I want my students to learn the fundamentals of their chosen instrument and develop their aural skills, learn to read musical notation, and learn how to conduct themselves in front of an audience. I want my students to learn effective practice techniques so they can make the most of their practice time and become self-sufficient musicians.

What is a highlight from your performing career?

Playing bass clarinet and clarinet on Steve Reich’s Music for 18 Musicians.

Fun Fact

I can sing the alphabet backwards.
