Early Childhood Learning Assistant

Hello everyone! I am excited and humbled to be working with the students here! I am originally from the Roseland community on Chicago’s south side. I studied for my Associates degree in Dance at Cottey College and am now working on my Bachelors degree in Psychology. I have been teaching dance since I was 10 years old; choreographing and performing with peers aged 5-16 years old. Throughout my childhood, I spent the majority of my time making and teaching dances at church, training in ballet class, and singing in the Chicago Children’s Choir. In recent years I have taught master classes to high school girls interested in attending college, as well as children’s dance classes!

In 2017 I briefly traveled to Tanzania to experience and learn about the richness of cultures around the world. Less than a year later I continued my travels by flying to Ghana for a 4 month study abroad program! These trips gifted me the experiences needed to renew my passion of supporting to young people. Traveling aside, there is no place like Chicago! It’s diversity and pace offer ample opportunity for me to develop my skills as a teacher while serving in the city I was raised. There is never a dull moment in a city where the world is at its fingertips.

On my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and playing with my kitten Luna! I love many things including sunflowers, trying new restaurants, watching documentaries, and even cooking! I look forward to exploring more to life throughout this current year.
