Reception Leader
I grew up in the South East of England (Kent) with my parents and older sister. I’ve always been interested in how children learn, and my first degree in Psychology gave me a great insight into this. During this time, I lived in London for three years and developed an admiration for big cities and all the exciting things they have to offer. My fascination with new cities continued when I took a gap year after my degree and explored South East Asia, Australia and New Zealand. I have now been in Chicago for three years and love living here! I especially like the various neighborhoods within the city and how they all offer something a little different.

Reception Teacher
I am from South Wales, which is also where I studied for my undergraduate degree in Sport and Physical Education. I knew I wanted to be a teacher from a young age, originally wanting to teach Physical Education in decondary schools. However, after experiencing teaching at primary school age, I quickly changed my mind and studied Early Years and Foundation Phase Education at an institute in Hereford. After gaining my QTS I returned to Newport, South Wales, where I started my first teaching job. I have taught in two very diverse schools in Newport, which has given me great experience in a range of areas.
I was born and raised in the bustling city of Glasgow, Scotland. Now commencing my eighth year in Chicago, I am excited for what's ahead as our community continues to grow. In Glasgow, we have a saying that "People make Glasgow." The same could be said for Chicago. I love visiting the different neighborhoods, exploring the city and suburbs, meeting new people, and celebrating the diversity, foods, and cultures that makes Chicago shine, just as its beautiful architecture does.
I am originally from Glasgow, Scotland. Always keen to be creative, I completed my undergraduate degree in Textile Design at Duncan of Jordanstone School of Art at Dundee University. However, I soon realized that I wanted to channel that creative energy into working with children. So, I completed my postgraduate degree in Primary Education.
I am from Salisbury, a beautiful city in southwest England. I attended the University of Plymouth, Rolle College in Devon where I undertook my teaching degree. During my four-year class, I had the opportunity to take a teaching placement in Fredonia, New York. This certainly sparked my love of the United States. After I graduated with my qualified teacher status, I moved the East London to teach in the borough of Newham. I loved getting to work with such a diverse community of people, learning about different cultures, languages, and traditions.
Learning Assistant for Ms. Matthews
This beautiful city of Chicago is where I was born and raised, in the Ravenswood neighborhood. I come from a large, close-knit family of six and have an even larger amount of extended family members of which most live in León, Guanajuato, México, where both my parents are from. In my spare time I love spending time with my family and friends; exploring new places to eat, participating in community service projects with my sorority, dancing and more! After graduating in May 2008 from Loyola University Chicago, I continued working in retail and enjoyed traveling. Since joining BISC-LP in 2009, I’ve assisted in classes from Nursery to Year 2 and in the Spanish Language Department for Key Stage 2; I’ve had so much fun with my students and have developed great relationships with them and the parents!
Learning Assistant for Ms. Newman
I was born and raised on the south side of Chicago in the Bridgeport neighborhood. Recently, I graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago with a bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Learning with a minor in Psychology. In my spare time I enjoy playing the ukulele and bowling.
Learning Assistant for Mr. McNeill
I am from Chicago and have a daughter. I have been a two-year-old teacher for 12 years, and my major was early childhood education. I really enjoy working with children!
