I grew up in a lovely area of England called Ascot until the age of 18 when I moved to study in the seaside city of Brighton. I then lived in East London for five years where I completed my PGCE at Goldsmiths University and taught at a wonderful inner London primary school. This will be the start of my fifth year in Chicago; there are so many things I love about this amazing city! From the beautiful architecture, the endless summer street festivals and the diverse range of delicious food. My favorite way to spend a sunny weekend is by cycling along the lake trail with the stunning Chicago skyline ahead of me or kayak and swim in Lake Michigan. I have been lucky enough to visit several states over the past few years, although I still have plenty more to tick off my wish list!
In every class I teach, I develop an environment of respect and trust, where the children are able to express themselves freely. It is vital that children can be who they want to be and know that they are all unique; as learners and as individuals. This trust allows children to feel safe in making mistakes and helps foster a growth mindset attitude where getting things wrong is a positive thing. This is, after all, the first step in learning
