Learning Resource & Student Support Services

From our Learning Resource Team to our licensed nurse and school psychologist, our campus will be there to support and foster your children's growth and needs.

At BISCLP we adopt an inclusive approach to meeting the needs of all learners, regardless of neuro-diverse traits or disabilities. Learning Resources collaborate proactively with families, teachers and external specialists to develop consistent, tailored support that will help all students to thrive. Where possible, this support is provided within the classroom, through high quality, differentiated instruction. Some children benefit from individual or small group support outside of the classroom, and work with a Learning Resources teacher to meet individualized learning goals.

    Judith Scholes

Originally born in the North of England and moving frequently both within the UK and internationally, our family relocated to Chicago in 2012 as a result of my husband’s job. We have all embraced living in the "Second City," constantly awed by the skyline, the waterfront, and the many opportunities for new experiences. I have especially enjoyed running along the lakeshore, live storytelling, and rowing with my daughter’s crew team on the river. At home, a menagerie of musical instruments is a key component of family life, inspiring our eclectic musical tastes.

I grew up in Elmhurst, near Chicago. I moved to Chicago a couple of years ago after completing my Bachelor of Music at Lawrence University. I love playing clarinet and singing, but what is most worthwhile to me is making music with other people. In my spare time I love making new vegan foods, learning new things, exploring Chicago, and taking way too many pictures.

I grew up in the North East of England. I moved to London to study nursing. After graduating, I worked in a number of hospitals as an accident and emergency nurse. Then I decided to make a career change, qualifying as a Pediatric Speech & Language Pathologist in Manchester, England. I moved to Chicago in 2012 with my family. I have two teenage sons, who love sports, so I am definitely the ultimate ‘soccer mom’!

I was born and raised in the south Chicago suburbs. I have always had an interest in education and the arts. I have studied both Art History and Museum Studies in the past, and have worked at places like the Elmhurst Art Museum and the Lyric Opera of Chicago. I’ve also done a great deal of work with the disability activist community in Chicago. I joined the BISC-LP team in May of 2017 and have loved being part of such an internationally minded community! Outside of school, I love being in nature, reading, and picking up new art practices. I am fortunate enough to live near several great parks and forest preserves that let me explore with my recently adopted Bluetick hound, Mulder.

I was extremely lucky to grow up in the beautiful county of Devon, surrounded by countryside and beaches. After qualifying as a teacher, I moved to teach in Newham, one of the most multicultural boroughs of London! I could not have asked for a more exciting and challenging start to my career - both with the exposure that London brings to new teaching initiatives, as well as my immersion into the culturally rich environment of school, in which over 60 languages were spoken.

I was born and raised in Wisconsin, where I received a bachelor’s degree in history and anthropology from Marquette University and began working in education and teaching. I became certified to teach history and also worked in test preparation, including teaching ACT and SAT classes. Although I enjoyed education, I had long desired a career in the healthcare field and made a career change to nursing, obtaining a master's degree in nursing from DePaul University. I have loved getting to know the students and staff at BISC-LP and learning more about everyone’s different backgrounds. I’ve felt welcomed here and have enjoyed seeing all of the unique learning opportunities and activities the students participate in. I look forward to continuing to help everyone stay healthy in the coming school year!
