I grew up in beautiful West Yorkshire (Wakefield) before moving to Manchester to attend university. After receiving my BSc in Chemistry, I was a teaching assistant in a primary school, which then inspired me to complete a PGCE at Leeds University.
Since 2011, I have volunteered for the Serious Fun Network (Barretstown), supporting children living with illness. This is a charity very close to my heart, and I am excited to still be a part of this wonderful organization in the USA. I am a huge fan of musical theatre, and am excited to have the chance to finally make it to Broadway this year.
I was a primary teacher for five years in a school in inner city Manchester before moving to Chicago in 2019. I am thrilled to continue my journey at BISC - Lincoln Park for another year as a science specialist. Science has always been a passion of mine. From studying Chemistry, to leading the subject across all key stages whilst working in England. I am thrilled to be able to share my passion with the children this year.
My main aim when teaching is to encourage children to become resilient, confident, and ambitious learners (with lots of smiles along the way). I believe every pupil has the right to become the best they can, and I will do all I can to help children believe and achieve this.
