Year Leaders

Our middle leadership team represents each year group at BISC Lincoln Park from Pre-Nursery to Year 6. These nine leaders hold weekly meetings with their year groups and serve as representatives at our staff meetings too. Reporting to our key stage leaders, they are the senior leadership team's first point of contact regarding all year groups.

I am from a town called Huddersfield in West Yorkshire. I studied for two years to become a qualified Nursery Nurse, before attending Edge Hill University near Liverpool where I undertook my teaching degree. After graduating, I moved back to my home town where I began teaching in a local primary school. I had the pleasure of teaching there for two years in a Reception class where I gained many invaluable experiences, such as, setting up a brand new classroom. During my second year of teaching I became Science Subject Leader for Early Years and KS1. This past year, I moved to a different Key Stage and set up another new (Year 2) classroom in a newly built teaching space. I first visited Chicago earlier this year on a holiday and I fell in love with the city, its diverse culture and unforgettable food. I am thoroughly excited to become part of the team at BISC Lincoln Park and to discover what more the city of Chicago has to offer!

When teaching, my main aim is to excite, inspire and nurture all children. I believe each child is an individual with individual needs and that their learning should be personalized and structured to meet those academic needs. Every child deserves to learn in a holistic, nurturing environment; where both their educational and emotional needs are met. This will essentially help every child reach their full potential!

Teaching was something I always wanted to do while growing up in Lincolnshire. Before moving to Chicago, I taught in both Key Stages 1 and 2 in a highly successful school in the outskirts of Liverpool following my graduation from University there. In my spare time, I enjoy sports and keeping fit, taking part in many sporting activities.I am also a keen sports fan and enjoy going to professional sporting events; some of which I have attended include: the Olympics, Wimbledon and the Commonwealth Games. I love that Chicago is such a vibrant city with so much to do. I enjoy exploring the city and trying out lots of different restaurants and watching the local sports teams. The lakefront is one of my favorite places in Chicago.

I am originally from Ireland, where I worked as a journalist for four years after graduating. Following a brief stint in Australia, I moved to Brighton in England to train as a teacher, where I remained for four years in before moving to Chicago in 2015. This city is incredible, and every week there is an opportunity to explore something new no matter where your tastes lie, be it sports, the arts or food. My favorite thing has been exploring all of the different neighborhoods.

I was born and raised in Harrow, a borough to the North West of London, which is most famous for a prestigious boys’ school attended by Winston Churchill. I am proud of my London heritage and enjoyed growing up in a vibrant city full of life, culture and history. Away from the classroom my biggest passions include netball and travelling. I have been playing in a local netball league for five years and I enjoy working as part of a team to improve fitness and indulge in some friendly competition! I love to travel and am always keen to learn more about the culture and history of other countries. In recent years I have visited numerous countries including New Zealand, Australia, many European countries and, of course, The United States of America! I also use travel to test my personal boundaries; in April 2017 I walked the Inca Trail in Peru. After teaching in London for four years, I have decided it is time to spread my wings and move to Chicago. Having previously visited the city, I was inspired by its lively and friendly atmosphere.  I am thoroughly looking forward to the challenge of working in another fantastic city!
