Year 3 Leader

I graduated with first class honors in Primary Education in 2004 from the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow. I taught in Scotland for four years before starting my international teaching experience at the British International School of Chicago, Lincoln Park in 2008. After spending three wonderful years teaching in the Early Years Department and enjoying life in beautiful Chicago, I left the states to join my (now) husband, Oliver, in his home country of Spain.

While in Spain, I spent two years teaching in a British international school where I gained invaluable experience teaching children with English as an additional language. However, when the opportunity came up to rejoin the Nord Anglia family in New York, Oliver and I decided to make the move and we have now been back in United States for six years. Life in New York was fast paced and full of fun, however last year our family life changed significantly with the arrival of our twin boys, Alfie and Noah. We are extremely excited to be back in Chicago as a family of four and enjoy everything the city has to offer. We feel like we are coming home!

In my role of Head of Lower School in New York, I was responsible for the 2s Program through to Year 4 students. I am passionate about developing high quality teaching and learning and delivering the curriculum in exciting and engaging ways. Designing and delivering curriculum in a diverse international city such as New York, has allowed me to create unique learning experiences for our globally minded students. I am looking forward to bringing my experiences to Year 3 at BISC-LP, engaging the children, and being an integral part of their learning journeys.

When I am not in school, I love to travel and experience new cultures. I have visited many countries all over the world. Alfie and Noah have managed to get a few stamps in their passports in the first year of their lives! I am a very active person and enjoy a challenge. I have completed the Chicago, Seattle, and New York half marathons, and I am very much looking forward to getting back out running on the Chicago lakefront. With a Spanish-speaking husband and bilingual children, my personal challenge this year is to continue learning how to speak Spanish.
