I grew up in Walsall, a small town near Birmingham in the UK with my parents, grandparents and older brother who is now living in Indiana with his lovely wife. My family is of Greek Cypriot descent and being Greek means always having a house full of friends, family and children cooking and eating at every opportunity. I enjoy cooking and traveling and have been fortune enough to visit family in Melbourne, Australia and Cyprus, which was wonderful. I have also visited Rome, other parts of Italy, Croatia, Auchwitz in Poland and many Greek Islands where I have learned a vast amount of cultural knowledge that I use and pass onto the children in my class. I love exploring the city of Chicago, its neighborhoods, parks, and all it has to offer. I look forward to finding out more of Chicago and the states in the USA.
I have been teaching for eight years. My first teaching post was the head of the nursery department for a year before moving to a Primary school where I taught and gained valuable experiences in all year groups. For three years I was Special Educational Needs Coordinator for the whole school. As an educator and SENCO leader I firmly believe that ‘Every Child Matters’ and that they all learn in different ways and at a different pace. It is my responsibility to help children gain knowledge through exciting lessons that will equip them for later life.
