Aspiring Leader

This year, as an aspiring leader, I am going to continue our Learning Assistant training and development program, which was introduced in the second part of the last academic year here at BISC Lincoln Park.  I aim to act as a liaison between our Senior Leadership Team and the Learning Assistants by holding regular meetings, implementing a new training program for this year and supporting them in providing the best education for our students.

I was born in Birmingham but spent most of my childhood in York where I went to university and gained my teaching qualification. I returned to Birmingham for my first teaching job and then moved and taught in North Carolina, at the British School in Washington D.C., and finally Dubai before coming here to Chicago! I love to travel, and this year being in Chicago has given me so many opportunities to explore places I've never yet made it to as well as a whole new city with so many different neighborhoods and areas I still haven't made it to yet!

Learning should be personalized to each student. There is no 'best-fit' for your class. Each child learns in different ways, works at their own level, and needs different ways of being challenged. We are so lucky in our school to work with small classes and to have the opportunity to easily target each child at the correct level for them.
