What Parents and Students Say

We know that making big decisions about your child’s education is difficult, and we recognize that reviews from other parents can be very useful. We encourage you to get in touch with us if you’d like to be introduced to one of our parents in order to ask them questions directly.

  • parent and child at British International School of Chicago, Lincoln Park

"Although all the private schools I visited said they could customize their curriculum to meet a child’s specific needs, the only school that had a complete system in place to allow each child to move at their own pace was BISC. No child needs to slow themselves down and wait for the other children to catch up nor take on more advanced work than their capacity can handle and suffer emotional consequences due to their speed of learning. The expectations are high for the students, but totally appropriate for each individual - each excels to do their best at their own individual pace."

"Our daughter is in full-day nursery at BISC and she absolutely loves going to school every day. Her eyes light up as she puts on her uniform (which, by the way saves a lot of time in arguing over what to wear to school). Both our daughter and we have made great friends and had a very positive experience. Oh, and did we mention that in between the fun that she has been having that our not-yet-four-year-old daughter has learned to read? We are impressed."

"Our family loves the British International School of Chicago because of the wonderfully balanced and exciting school experience it delivers to our children. While our two children are very different from each another, the school and its amazing staff have expertly nurtured our kids to help them both achieve their own definitions of academic excellence, social confidence and artistic distinction. They are never bored and literally love going to school every day. BSC is a truly wonderful place."

"Over the years at BISC, we have come to truly appreciate the international climate of the school. Our children have many multi-cultural friends and every culture is celebrated at BISC. Through friendships, daily lessons and special celebrations, our children are growing up with a world view. We have found the children and parents to be wonderfully friendly. As a parent, you can choose your own level of involvement - many parents enjoy volunteering in different ways. The parent body has always seemed to be a group of people genuinely committed to obtaining the best education for their children."

Scarlet Rosheim, Year 1: "I love learning about all the different things like the World Cup in Topic! I love's fun every day! The teachers help the kids learn and we get to answer questions. They teach us good lessons and help us on the rooftop when we play. My favorite field trip was when we visited the Botanical Gardens because it was so beautiful. The teachers are funny and I love assemblies and we get to find out who won the House cup! I love the House cup part. I am in London and I like getting housepoints."

Brilliant Bears, Year 3: "We love learning here because it's challenging and we do so many different activities! The teachers are always happy and fair and that helps us to learn. We feel happy at this school because we have lots of friends and people here are so considerate of one another! We do lots of different lessons during the day which makes school fun and makes us excited to come to school."
