On June 11, we held the ceremonial groundbreaking for our new South Loop campus.

The British School of Chicago celebrated the start of a significant and exciting new chapter last week with the groundbreaking ceremony for its second campus in the South Loop.

Principal Michael Horton, Nord Anglia Education CEO Andrew Fitzmaurice, 25th Ward Alderman Danny Solis, developer Dan McCaffrey, and various staff members, students and parents attended the groundbreaking ceremony to view the progress on the building site, hear speeches regarding the new campus and enjoy a performance by the school band.

Scheduled to open in September 2015, the school’s South Loop campus will educate more than 1,000 students from preschool through to grade 12. With a focus on middle and high school education, the new campus will complement the school’s already successful Lincoln Park campus, which will serve students from preschool through middle school.

The South Loop campus will provide students and teachers with an environment tailor-made for teaching and learning. The new campus will feature exceptional facilities to help all students flourish, including a recording studio, drama studio, IT and ingenuity stations, outdoor soccer field, fitness studio and full-sized gymnasium.

Mike Horton, Principal of the British School of Chicago, commented that the school is excited to become part of the vibrant South Loop community. “We are thrilled about our second campus and the expanded educational opportunities it will provide our students, our parents and our new community,” he said. “The South Loop is perfectly suited to enhance the education of our students. The museum campus is right at our doorstep. Our students will be able to learn amidst Chicago’s rich cultural heritage.”
