Primary children visit the library every week to check out books, listen to stories, and learn valuable research skills. Students in Secondary School use the library to study, research and work collaboratively with peers.
Both libraries feature a vast array of books and unique sections. These include the Juilliard-Nord Anglia Performing Arts Program and the Global Library, which houses a curated selection of books read by students at Nord Anglia Education schools around the world.
We also offer access to multiple research databases, like Churchill Archives for Schools, Encyclopedia Britannica, JSTOR and Vocab Express.
In our current learning environment, primary students have weekly library sessions in which they get to share stories, explore books, and learn foundational research methods. While we are not currently checking out physical books, all students at BISC-SL can check out ebooks and utilize our various research databases.
We also maintain a great connection with the neighboring Harold Washington Library and encourage our students to take advantage of the resources and books available through the Chicago Public Library.
