I grew up in a small town just outside Bristol and completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Plymouth. After completing a biology degree, I went on to do postgraduate certificate of education at University of Wales. I began my teaching career in London working in both a private boarding school and an independent day school. During this time I studied for my master’s degree at The University of London.
I arrived at BISC in 2002 and have been fortunate with the opportunities and experiences it has provided me with. During my time here, I have held various responsibilities including implementing and leading the International Primary Curriculum, and leading the school through the Council of International Schools accreditation. I have also enjoyed the opportunity to teach across a range of Key Stages, and over the last few years I have taken on the role of teaching Science in Key Stage 2. This role has enabled me to develop the teaching and learning of science and in particular ensuring a practical approach which relates to everyday experiences.
Our school offers an individual, personalized learning opportunity so that students can improve at their own level as they mature and grow. Finally, staff, resources and facilities enable our students to progress, flourish and develop a lifelong love of learning.
I really enjoy all that Chicago has to offer and make the most of my time here. I love to travel and I have been fortunate to have been to 48 states. I also enjoy keeping myself physically fit; in particular I like to run, swim and go to the gym. I have run the London marathon, Chicago marathon and various other races in Chicago.
