Adriana Macias

I recently graduated from the University of Illinois in Chicago with a BA in Sociology and started working at a non-profit organization in Carol Stream. There, I worked as a receptionist at a counseling center. I was also able to assist the community by pairing up families with financial assistance that their city offered as well as housing assistance and free counseling. Within the same organization, I worked in offering free after-school programs to the children of the community. At the school, I appreciated the opportunity to get to know the families as I assisted the teachers.

When I heard about the opportunity at British as a receptionist, I thought it would be a great way to interact with children and families again.

This school has been different because all the families share a sense of pride in the school. They enjoy being involved and the teachers really do provide so much for their students.

Personally, I love to enjoy my free time outdoors. Summer is my favorite season because I enjoy being out on long hikes in the sun, finding a nice outdoor pool to cool off in, and having bonfires at night. I enjoy traveling and try to go somewhere different and unknown to me as much as I can so far, my favorite place has been Greece (such clear waters!).
