Before moving to Chicago to work at BISC, I attended Purdue University. I graduated from Purdue in May 2015 with a degree in elementary education and minors in Spanish and global studies. In my last semester at Purdue, I student-taught in a Kindergarten classroom at Hose Elementary in Crawfordsville, Indiana. During my time at Hose, I planned and taught several math, science and literacy lessons each week. I also learned a lot about classroom management, lesson planning and differentiation from coworkers and my university supervisor. I would say that student teaching taught me a lot of useful skills that will assist me in being a learning assistant at BISC.
I was born in Illinois but moved around a lot when I was young because of my dad’s job. I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to live in Cuernavaca, Mexico for five years. While living Mexico, I learned how to speak Spanish at a young age. Speaking and knowing the language is what made me continue to study Spanish and eventually minor in it at college as well.
In my free time I enjoy cooking, reading, crafting and spending time with my cat, Thor. You could say that I am a bit of a “cat lady."
