I joined the British International School of Chicago, South Loop after four years as the Director of Admissions & Marketing at sister Nord Anglia Education School, British International School of Boston. I previously spent several years in PK-12 admissions in an independent boarding school in Massachusetts. These experiences, together with my own education in both the U.K. and U.S., have provided me with invaluable insights into different curricula and the consequent differences in learning outcomes and preparedness for the future, highlighting the unparalleled value of a global education.
My professional career began in Law. I attended university in Wales, U.K., and went on to practice pharmaceutical liability. Eager to gain some international experience, I secured a position in New York, working as an intern in a law firm. While in the U.S., I also volunteered as the Assistant Director of an AIDS Foundation and, upon my return to the U.K., assumed the role of Chief Executive of the Alzheimer's research organization, C.A.R.E.
In 2011 I moved to the United States. I decided to pursue a new career path in independent school admissions as I kept reflecting on the value of my time in independent education during my formative years and the contribution I believed I could make in education. Immediately, it was a great fit. I loved meeting with families, event planning, analyzing data and looking at trends, and facilitating an effective admissions process. My legal background also proved very useful to the school and parents, not least because admissions deals with contracts and visa issuances.
I have visited Chicago many times for NAE conferences and professional development, and I have a special connection to the city as my Dad studied at Northwestern University as a postgraduate student. He would always talk of the value of his international experience and his love of Chicago.
I moved to Chicago because of the South Loop School’s reputation and the amazing opportunity to work with a strong team of educators who consistently evidence the power of personalized learning. The students inspire me to ‘Be Ambitious’ in all that I do. BISC-SL really is a safe space to try new things, no matter what your age, and the BISC-SL parents contribute greatly to the community and their support is invaluable in the success of the School.
