Professionally, I have dedicated over the last decade of my career in education to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and leading change efforts in education in urban contexts as an educational leader. DEI is the cornerstone of my practice and the consistent catalyst behind my personal and professional evolution as well as my school-based practices and community impact. A significant aspect of my work is championing success for students of all backgrounds, narratives, and experiences. My background includes engaging innovative practices in the realms of special education, mental health, culturally responsive teaching and practices, social-emotional learning in the classroom, and trauma-informed teaching in urban communities.
I was born in the sunny state of Florida. After high school, I attended the University of Central Florida where I obtained my Bachelor of Science in Psychology, Master of Social Work, and Doctorate in Education with the unique focus and integration of leadership, urban special education, and curriculum and instruction. I am a connector, creative, and nurturer. I am passionate about creatively facilitating conversations that foster a strong sense of identity and that honors the strength, beauty, and rich histories that exist across all lines of human difference. Further, I love building strong relationships, fighting for social justice and preserving the importance of human dignity through mindfulness and compassion. In my free time, I enjoy listening to and creating music, dancing, reading, researching, traveling, and binge-watching trending TV shows.
This school is different from all others I have worked at because of its unique focus on the whole child and its commitment to engaging students and families from a global perspective, yet with a true heart to reach the surrounding community. This school caters to every expression of creativity and uniqueness all while equipping students to live ambitiously, daringly, and authentically with compassion, excellence, and persistence.
