From an early age, I recognized the significance of stories. It was this love of narrative that encouraged me to complete a bachelor’s degree in English in my hometown of Leicester. After this, I decided to pursue a career in education and completed my PGCE at Aberystwyth University. I then returned to teach A Levels at my alma mater, Wyggeston & Queen Elizabeth I College in Leicester. Since moving to Chicago in 2015 I have had the opportunity to teach at Chicago Public Schools and also deliver the IB curriculum at an independent Montessori school.
In my spare time I of course enjoy reading, and during the pandemic have very much come to appreciate the great outdoors. Cycling along Chicago’s Lakeshore trail is one of my favorite pastimes. I also enjoy hiking and swimming. Though not an avid sports enthusiast, Leicester City will continue to have my unwavering support.
The British School’s focus on personalized learning provides an exciting opportunity to provide a unique level of individualized support to ensure each student achieves their potential. Having lived on four separate continents, I have truly come to appreciate what it means to be inclusive, embrace multiple perspectives, and appreciate the importance of international-mindedness for the future of education. I am thrilled to be joining the school community at BISC-SL.
