I started my teaching career in north London; in fact, I actually taught at the school I attended as a student! There I was able to teach Math to all ages, from Year 7 through to A-level Math in Year 13. I even had the opportunity to go into local Primary schools to teach and work with home-school children. After my time in north London I moved to the northeast of England to work in a Secondary school on Gateshead.
Outside of the classroom, while in my position in north London, I coordinated Gifted and Talented provision and Enrichment within the Math Department, enthusing and stretching younger students through competitions and clubs to nurturing older students looking to study Math at university. Outside of Math I have also run hockey, tennis and athletics clubs, been a form tutor and a student mentor.
Outside of work I enjoy keeping active, whether it be playing netball (it’s a popular Commonwealth sport), running, cycling, swimming or something more sedate like yoga, and I love the snow and enjoy going snowboarding. I am not always on the go - I am happy at home, reading a book, or just spending time with friends and family, going to an art gallery or a museum and learning something new.
