Julie Connor

Julie Connor

Head of Math

As the daughter of two teachers, I knew from an early age that teaching was the career I wished to pursue, and throughout my school life I always had a passion for Mathematics. The enthusiasm of students at British International School of Chicago and their passion for learning, as well as the motivation and dedication of our staff make our school an exciting place to teach.

Before moving to Chicago, I lived in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Attending Queen's University, I earned a bachelor's degree in education with Mathematics.
After graduating, I took up a post in a large Primary school where I specialized in developing numeracy throughout the school. Since then I embarked on my career in Secondary education, teaching Mathematics from Key Stages 3-5 in an Information and Communications Technology (ICT) specialist school, where I had access to some of the most up-to-date ICT resources available. During my 10 years there, I took on many different roles and responsibilities, including Head of Learning for Life and Work and Coordinator of Citizenship, Community Relations and Charities.

Outside of work, I like to spend my time participating in a wide range of sports including tennis and hockey. I also enjoy attending sporting events and am a keen Liverpool football club and Chicago Bulls supporter. With a love of travelling, especially throughout the United States, my aim is to visit every state at least once.
