Before moving to Chicago, I lived in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Attending Queen's University, I earned a bachelor's degree in education with Mathematics.
After graduating, I took up a post in a large Primary school where I specialized in developing numeracy throughout the school. Since then I embarked on my career in Secondary education, teaching Mathematics from Key Stages 3-5 in an Information and Communications Technology (ICT) specialist school, where I had access to some of the most up-to-date ICT resources available. During my 10 years there, I took on many different roles and responsibilities, including Head of Learning for Life and Work and Coordinator of Citizenship, Community Relations and Charities.
Outside of work, I like to spend my time participating in a wide range of sports including tennis and hockey. I also enjoy attending sporting events and am a keen Liverpool football club and Chicago Bulls supporter. With a love of travelling, especially throughout the United States, my aim is to visit every state at least once.
